# Variants

> Describe the different styles of an item, such as colour or finish, using variant types and variants.

Variants help you tell apart pieces of the same item. For example, a 22K bangle can come in *Antique*, *Rose gold* or *Plain* finish.

There are two steps: first make a **variant type** (the group), then the **variants** (the choices).

| Variant type | Variants                      |
| ------------ | ----------------------------- |
| Finish       | Antique, Rose gold, Plain     |
| Design       | Temple, Casting, Machine made |
