# Create your first sale

> The simplest way to bill your first customer in EasyJewel, step by step.

New to EasyJewel? Follow these steps to make your first sales bill in a few minutes.

## Why start here

* It is the most common job at the counter.
* It shows how rate, weight, making charge and GST come together.
* Once you know this, every other bill is easy.

## Key features

* **Tag scan**: scan or pick the tag and the item details fill in.
* **Today's rate**: the metal rate you entered for today is used.
* **GST worked out**: CGST and SGST are added for you (3% for jewellery).
* **Payment**: take cash, card or UPI on the same screen.

## Before you start

* Enter today's [metal rate](../stock/daily-metal-rate).
* Make sure the item has a [tag](../stock/tags).
* Keep the customer's name and mobile number ready.

## Steps

#### Open a new sales bill

Go to **Daily Counter → Sales** and click **Create**.

#### Pick the customer

Search by mobile number. If they are new, add them. See [Parties](../customers/parties).

#### Add the item

Scan the tag or type the tag number. Weight, purity and making charge fill in.

#### Check the rate and charges

Check the rate, wastage and making charge on the line. Change them if you agreed a different price.

#### Check the GST

Look at the GST column and the totals. Jewellery is usually 3%.

#### Take the payment

Enter how the customer paid, for example ₹30,000 by UPI and the rest in cash.

#### Save

Click **Save**. Your first bill is done.

## FAQs

#### Can I sell when stock is low?

Yes, unless **Block Sale on Insufficient Stock** is switched on.

#### The customer wants one all-in price. What do I do?

#### The customer is giving old gold. What do I do?

#### Can I give a quote first?

Yes. Make an [estimation](../daily-counter/estimation) and add it to the bill later.
