# Payment modes

> The ways customers pay you - Cash, Bank Transfer, Card and UPI - and which account each one posts to.

**Menu:** Accounts → Finance → Payment Mode

Four modes are ready for you:

| Payment mode  | Type       | Posting rule | Ledger               |
| ------------- | ---------- | ------------ | -------------------- |
| Cash          | CASH       | Immediate    | Cash                 |
| Bank Transfer | NETBANKING | Immediate    | Primary Bank Account |
| Card          | DEBIT CARD | Immediate    | Primary Bank Account |
| UPI           | UPI        | Immediate    | Primary Bank Account |

The **posting rule** decides when the money is posted to the ledger. *Immediate* posts it straight away.

## Add a payment mode

Fill **Name** \*, **Payment Type** \*, **Posting Rule** \* (Immediate), **Types** \*, **Reference Required** and Description. Under **Ledger Mappings**, choose the **Default Ledger** \*. Click **Save**.

>
> If UPI money comes into your IOB account, set the UPI mode's Default Ledger to that bank ledger.
